Include Conversations Outside of Work Topics

Understand Everyone’s Strengths and Weaknesses
As a leader, one way to improve your decision-making skills is to be conscious of the team’s strengths and weaknesses. When you know the ins and outs of the company, you can make the most efficient choices for the good of the team.
Who is the leader of the group? Which employee meets every tight deadline consistently? Who is incredibly tech-savvy? Whenever anyone needs help, you can point them to the employee that excels in that duty.
On the other hand, who struggles when speaking to clients on the phone? Which employee isn’t the best at working on a computer? Who has the busiest schedule and can’t attend several meetings? Understanding one another’s weaknesses is another essential component to stay mindful of. It will lead you to the next step of improving teamwork.
Discuss the Team’s Dynamic
After gaining an understanding of everyone’s strengths and weaknesses, it’s time to define the roles within the team. Some employees will work better on various aspects of a project than others.
If employee A has an outgoing personality and is great at communicating with clients, they should take the lead on that project. However, employee B is detail-oriented and can compose necessary documents quickly, but they aren’t as skilled when it comes to conversations with clients. Once both employees obtain the necessary information, they can compile the data to complete the project together.
To establish everyone’s roles, discuss them together. Mention the learned strengths and weaknesses from previous exercises. Have an open and honest conversation with one another. Once everyone is on the same page, everyone can work more efficiently together.
